Edinburgh Fringe - Assistant Producer (x2)

Job Title: Assistant Producer
Rate of Pay: Flat Fee (AP 1: £1800 for 26 days, AP 2: £1150 for 19 days) - Both roles are 6 hrs per day incl. 1 hr break
Dates of Work: AP 1: 29 July to 25 Aug, AP 2: 30 July to 19 Aug - Both roles have two days off during the festival

BIGHEAD Comedy are looking for two enthusiastic people with experience working in fast-paced environments (preferably within the arts or entertainment industry) to work with us as assistant producers at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025. This role will give you the opportunity to work on numerous shows across all of the major venues at the Edinburgh Fringe ensuring the production of high-quality comedy shows as well as the safety and wellbeing of our performers at the festival. You will also be responsible for managing our team of street team staff who will be flyering at the festival, as well as assisting with street team activities during busy periods.

Working as part of a close-knit team of artists, creatives, staff and administrators you will be part of our team looking to bring the best possible shows to our Edinburgh Fringe audiences.

Role

Both assistant producers along with BIGHEAD's lead producer will all share duties including but not limited to:

  • Attending our productions daily and taking notes to ensure consistency and quality across performances.
  • Being a main point of contact for all of our productions and creatives.
  • Communicating effectively with venue staff to ensure smooth operation of multiple performances every day.
  • Working with performers on venue get-in and get-out proceedures to ensure shows are set-up and taken down within the timeframe given to us.
  • Liasing with artists and venue staff to address any issues surrounding our performers or their performance.
  • Communicating regularly and efficiently with artists, technicians and our street team staff to ensure the smooth operation of all productions on a day-to-day basis.
  • Meeting regularly with our street team staff on a daily basis and ensuring the staff are happy, motivated and effective in their work.
  • Replacing any broken or missing props and communicating with artists to ensure everything is ready for each performance day-to-day.
  • Ensuring the proper maintenance and refreshing of our marketing imagery so it is up-to-date with all required reviews/press quotes/etc.
  • Reporting any potential issues that could risk performance quality or performer and staff safety/wellbeing.
  • Leading and motivating BIGHEAD's street team staff through day-to-day work duties.
  • Undertaking any other duties assigned by BIGHEAD Comedy, which might reasonably be deemed to be
    within the scope and the role and having regard for the skills and qualifications related to the role.

Person Specification

ESSENTIAL

  • Experience of producing or assistant producing comedy and/or theatre productions, or a similar transferable skill within events, customer service, etc.
  • Ability to interact, liaise, negotiate and communicate with a broad range of people, both internal and external to an organisation in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines and cope with high pressure situations.
  • Self-reliant and self-motivated with an ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

DESIRED

  • Good knowledge of live comedy (particularly alternative comedy/clown/etc.) within the UK.
  • Experience of working at the Edinburgh Fringe or similar arts and culture festivals.
  • A desire to gain further experience and development within producing/comedy/arts festivals.
  • Clean UK Driver's License

Edinburgh Fringe - Street Team Staff

Job Title: Street Team Staff
Rate of Pay: £15/hr
Dates of Work: 30th July – 24th August
Available Contracts: Multiple shifts available between 4pm and 9pm, flexible but mostly running for two hours per day except 11th and 18th August.

Role

  • Flyering around central Edinburgh, promoting BIGHEAD-produced shows.
  • Chatting to members of the public about the shows we're promoting.
  • Ability to think strategically to support the promotion of specific shows.

Person Specification

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Keen interest in comedy.

Edinburgh Fringe - Show Technician

Job Title: Technician
Rate of Pay: £25 per show plus £50 for tech rehearsal
Dates of Work: 30th July to 24th August (not 11th or 18th) (Plus one tech rehearsal tbc 28th - 29th July)

Role

  • Working with performer and venue technician on set-up of show technical equipment.
  • Operating lighting and sound tech for all performances of one show.
  • Assisting in daily turnaround before and after show.
  • Keeping full record of all information regarding show operation including cue sheets and any other paperwork required.
  • Ensuring that all backstage facilities and equipment are maintained to the highest standard.
  • Ensuring health and safety standards set by venue are adhered to correctly.

Person Specification

  • Experience of working as a technician in either a professional or academic environment.
  • Good knowledge of theatrical technology including rigging and programming of lighting desks.
  • Good working knowledge of health and safety in a theatrical environment.
  • Comfortable working at height.
